February in Bancroft embraces winter at its best, with prime conditions for snowmobiling and ice fishing across the many nearby lakes. If you’re looking to stay warm indoors, consider lending your creative talents to Crafting for Turtles, an initiative supporting the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre. Crafters are invited to make items that help injured turtles recover — visit thinkturtle.ca to learn how your handiwork can make a difference this winter.

February community events add extra colour to the season, beginning with the Bancroft Horticultural Society’s Winter Sowing Workshop on February 7th. Families can also bundle up for outdoor fun at Faraday Winter Fun Day on Sunday, February 15th, at the Faraday Community Centre, featuring winter activities and a welcoming community atmosphere. Later in the month, on February 21st, the Art Gallery of Bancroft celebrates its 44th Anniversary with a free party, inviting the public to enjoy wine, food, and local art in a festive setting.

February also brings plenty of reasons to dress up and dine out. Enjoy a Valentine’s turkey dinner with live music on February 7th at Word of Life Outreach Church in Lake St. Peter, in support of their new accessibility ramp. On Valentine’s Day, February 14th, the Fish Hatchery’s 4th Annual Dinner Dance fundraiser returns with steak, seafood, live music, and auctions — tickets are available online or at local retailers like Mack Attack Outdoors.

Whether you’re chasing winter adventure or celebrating indoors, Bancroft offers plenty of ways to stay warm and connected this February.
