Bancroft awakens this April with a vibrant calendar of events, beginning with the Downtown Hop Around on April 4th from 1 pm to 4 pm. Families are invited to bring a basket to collect treats from participating local businesses while keeping an eye out for random Easter Bunny sightings downtown between 1 pm and 3 pm. For a guaranteed meet-and-greet, visit the Bunny at Go With Crowe Real Estate from 3 pm to 4 pm.
Throughout the month, the Bancroft Village Playhouse serves as a cultural hub, featuring the film Sentimental Value (Apr 9), high-energy rock from The Detention Club (Apr 11), and the Great Canadian Comedy Caravan (Apr 17).
Mid-month offers a blend of creative workshops and wellness. The Muse Cafe hosts a "Dear Younger Me" workshop on April 8th, followed by a spring wind-chime pottery session on April 10th. On April 12th, treasure hunters can head to the Faraday Community Centre for Bancroft’s inaugural Pop Up Marketplace. That same day, and again on April 19th, St. John’s Anglican Hall invites the public to free Health & Wellness presentations at 2 pm, offering insights into "Foods for Good Moods" and "Healthy Food Surprises" complete with tastings and prizes. Art enthusiasts should also make time for the NHHS Student Art Show, running all month at the Annex.
The month concludes with a diverse array of gatherings. Friday, April 24th, presents a musical crossroads: choose between the Floyd Factor tribute at the Playhouse or the "Two Pianos, No Rodeo" experimental concert at St. Paul’s United Church. On April 25th, the community spirit shines in Maynooth at the free Family Fun Market & Wellness Day, while card players can gather at the Mayo Community Centre for a Progressive Euchre Tournament. This $10 fundraiser includes lunch and supports BCT and the Bancroft Hospital.
